Shared Drive Mapping

Purpose

Mapping a shared drive allows campus faculty and staff to access stored files for sharing and collaboration.

Audience 

Faculty and Staff

Prerequisites 

Shared drive access must be from a secure TAMU-CC connection.

Important Notes 

For consistency, \\ad.tamucc.edu\common should be mapped to the I: drive.

Mapping a Shared Drive

For PC

  1. Select File Explorer.
  2. Select This PC to reveal the Computer tab options.
  3. Select Map network drive.
  4. In the drop-down menu, select the drive to be mapped.
  5. Enter the address, such as \\ad.tamucc.edu\common" in the field type.
  6. Select Finish.

For Mac

  1. Select Go from the menu.
  2. Select Connect to Server.
  3. Enter the address, such as “smb://ad.tamucc.edu/common/” in the space marked Server Address.
  4. Select Connect.
  5. Enter your IslandID and password.
  6. Change to “Registered User
  7. Once connection is successful, a new window will appear with your mapped drive folder contents.
