Connect to a Ricoh Printer

Purpose

Ricoh Multifunction Printers allow users to wirelessly print, copy, scan, and fax documents with ease. Many individuals on campus utilize these features by connecting to a departmental Ricoh printer(s) through the print server on their Windows computer.

Prerequisites

The administrator of the Ricoh printer must add you to the Ricoh address book before attempting to connect to the printer.

Important Notes

If a user code is required, contact the administrator of the printer within your department to have one assigned. You will need to have the code on-hand while connecting to the Ricoh printer.

Getting Started

Connecting to a Ricoh Printer

  1. Open File Explorer.
  2. In the address bar, type \\printserver and select Enter.
  3. Printers will be listed and named according to their location and model.
    1. BuildingName_RoomNumber_Model_DriverType.
    2. Example: CCH_200_Ricoh MP C8503_PCL6.
  4. Locate and double-click the printer icon to run the automatic installer.

Adding a User Code to Ricoh Printer Preferences

  1. From the Desktop Search Bar type Printer.
  2. Select Printers & Scanners.
  3. Select the Printer and select Manage.
  4. Select Printing Preferences.
  5. Depending on your printer’s driver, navigate to the following locations to enter your user code:
    1. PCL5
      1. Select the Valid Access tab.
      2. Enter the User Code in the available space.
      3. Select Apply and OK.
    2. PCL6
      1. Select the Detailed Settings tab.
      2. Select the Job Setup subtab.
      3. Enter the User Code in the available space.
      4. Select Apply and OK.
