This TUGs page serves as the repository of resources designed to help you use the technologies available to you as members of the TAMU-CC Islander community. TUGs are categorize by use type, listed in alphabetical order. We hope you find them useful, and we welcome any feedback or resource suggestions that could benefit your fellow Islanders.

 

Laserfiche Forms
Purpose: Laserfiche Forms is a web application that allows organizations to develop and use web forms to collect or work with information. Business processes are defined to route, interact with, and manage the information. Forms are centrally created and maintained by the Division of IT at the request of University departments.
Audience: Faculty and Staff

MS Forms
Purpose: Microsoft Forms is used to create, disseminate, tabulate, and evaluate surveys, quizzes, and polls. As responses are submitted, the creator can view real-time results, use built-in analytics to evaluate responses, and export results to Excel for additional analysis or grading.

CautionMicrosoft Forms should not be used when working with confidential information or if retention requirements exist.

Qualtrics
Purpose: Qualtrics enables you to generate surveys and polls, called projects, designed to get feedback from participants using a variety of distribution methods. Results can be viewed as reports and can also be downloaded. Qualtrics allows you to share surveys and results.

Cisco Jabber
Purpose: Cisco Jabber is an anytime, anywhere collaboration tool for your laptop or desktop computer that streamlines communication and enhances productivity. Supporting chat, desktop sharing, phone calls and audio, video, and web conferencing.

Cisco WebEx
Purpose:  Video conferencing & online meeting. Conduct online meetings with access to utilities such as meeting recording for on-demand use, public and private chat, share screen, application, content or even a whiteboard.

Microsoft Collaborative Editing
Purpose: Microsoft software is available for collaborative editing using Word, Excel or PowerPoint. Efficiency is improved when multiple people can work together on a single file, in real time, through collaborative editing.
Important Notes: If your file is not in OneDrive, Microsoft will direct you to save it in OneDrive before you can collaborate on it.

MS Teams
Purpose: Microsoft Teams is a collaboration tool that provides a dynamic and customizable workspace by integrating with other University approved Apps and Microsoft Office 365 services such as OneDrive.

Adobe Creative Cloud
Purpose: Creative Cloud is a collection of 20+ desktop and mobile apps and services for photography, design, video, web, UX and more. Now you can take your ideas to new places with Photoshop on the iPad, draw and paint with Fresco, and design for 3D and AR. Join our global creative community — and make something better together. Full access to Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Acrobat DC, Adobe Fonts and more!

Adobe Scan
Purpose: Adobe Scan mobile app is used to create Portable Document Format (PDF) files from any image that can be captured using your mobile device. However, Adobe Scan should not be used for working with confidential information or if retention requirements exist. Adobe Scan is a free app that turns your mobile device into a portable scanner that can capture and convert documents, forms, business cards, and even whiteboards into high-quality PDFs. The app recognizes text with optical character recognition (OCR) and optimizes scanned documents to remove any unwanted glares or shadows.

Purpose: Camtasia 2020 makes it simple to record and create professional-looking videos on Windows and Mac. Use Camtasia's powerful screen recorder to capture anything on your screen. Or, import camera video, music, photos, and more to truly customize your videos. Edit and enhance your videos with Camtasia’s powerful editor, ready-to-use themes, animated backgrounds, graphics, callouts, and more. Produce interactive videos with clickable links, tables of contents, search, and more. Then, easily share videos that your viewers can watch anywhere, anytime.

DocuSign
Purpose: DocuSign is used to manage the delivery and electronic signing of forms. It is a versatile form management and tracking solution that helps ensure the proper routing, tracking, delivery and status of forms that require one or more signatures, and other information.

Office 365
Purpose: Microsoft's cloud-based Office productivity suite of applications for creating documents, presentations, spreadsheets and more.

Affiliate Access Extension
Purpose: Affiliates of TAMU-CC, users that are not faculty, staff, or students, may receive access to various university resources for a time not to exceed a year. Access may be extended for up to one year at a time if the Affiliate still requires use of university resources.

Blackboard
Purpose: Blackboard is a web-based learning management system (LMS) designed to support fully online courses or provide a space for face-to-face course supplementation. Blackboard provides many types of tools and features for enriching the learning experience. Blackboard provides a space (course shell) for each course taught each semester. Student enrollments and faculty assignments are handled automatically by the system. A fully functional course shell provides tools for displaying content, interacting with students, and assessing students’ work. The system also supports various media types for creating engaging content.

MATLAB
Purpose: MATLAB® combines a desktop environment tuned for iterative analysis and design processes with a programming language that expresses matrix and array mathematics directly.

Respondus 4.0
(only available for Windows systems)
Purpose: Create and manage exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to one or more courses in Blackboard, TAMU-CC's official learning system. Create exam questions of various types using the built-in question builder or import questions from external files or test banks, publish exams to or retrieve exam results from a learning management system.

Respondus LockDown Browser
Purpose: LockDown Browser® is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Blackboard, TAMU-CC's official learning management system. The LockDown Browser used is very specific to an institution, therefore, students should only use the LockDown Browser provided by the Division of Information Technology to take exams for TAMU-CC courses. Download TAMU-CC's Respondus Lockdown Browser. Instructors would use the Respondus LockDown Browser tool in Blackboard to specify if an exam administered in Blackboard has to be taken using the LockDown Browser. Once an exam is stared using the LockDown Browser:
  • Assessments are displayed full-screen and cannot be minimized
  • Browser menu and toolbar options are removed, except for Back, Forward, Refresh and Stop
  • Prevents access to other applications including messaging, screen-sharing, virtual machines, and remote desktops
  • Printing and screen capture functions are disabled
  • Copying and pasting anything to or from an assessment is prevented Right-click menu options, function keys, keyboard shortcuts and task switching are disabled
  • An assessment cannot be exited until the student submits it for grading
  • Assessments that are set up for use with LockDown Browser cannot be accessed with other browsers

Respondus Monitor
Purpose: Respondus Monitor® builds upon the power of LockDown Browser, using a student’s webcam and video analytics to prevent cheating during non-proctored exams. Respondus Monitor integrates seamlessly with Blackboard. Students access exams within the Blackboard as they normally would. After a quick one-time installation, Respondus Monitor will auto-launch from the student's browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE) whenever the exam settings require it. Students are then guided through a pre-exam sequence, including a webcam check. Exams can be taken with Respondus Monitor without advanced scheduling and without additional registration by the student. Instructors use the Respondus LockDown Browser tool within Blackboard to require an exam use Respondus Monitor, and engage in post-exam review of proctoring results.
